Advantages of silicon carbon balls: When smelting medium and high carbon steel in a steelmaking converter, it is generally used to add alloys and recarburizers with the steel flow during the tapping process or at the bottom of the ladle to complete the tasks of carbonization and deoxidation alloying. Compared with silicon carbon balls, this method brings many disadvantages. First, because the recarburizer is granular, when the particle size of the recarburizer is large, it floats on the molten steel surface, and the carbon recovery rate is low, generally 80-90%, and the particle size is 80-90%. It is easy to oxidize, and the carbon increase is unstable, and the addition amount is large, the cost is high, and the working conditions are deteriorated; secondly, the granular recarburizer is likely to cause a large heat loss from the violent boiling of the molten steel in the ladle, which is not conducive to temperature control; The impurity content of the carbon agent is high, and it is easy to absorb water, which will deteriorate the cold drawing performance of the steel and make it difficult to carry out deep processing; in addition, the carbon content in the steel will be uneven, resulting in carbon segregation. These will affect the quality of the steel. In addition, deoxidation is often required in the steelmaking process. Before the use of silicon carbon balls, silicon aluminum iron is used for steelmaking deoxidation, and a variety of powders and alloys are used for carburization and deoxidation, which not only increases the labor intensity of workers, pollutes the environment, but also increases costs.
