Theshoe and heel materials slip resistance testerhas been developed following extensive biomechanical studies and is representative of conditions encountered during walking when slip is most likely to occur.
A normal walking step commences with heel strike and ends as the toe is lifted from the ground. Slip is most likely to occur shortly after heel strike and just before toe lift when half body weight is being applied. The equipment measures the slip resistance between the sole of the shoe/boot and the floor.
Qinsun supplies a standard, calibrated, floor surface with each machine. Other surfaces can be used with the machine and are available to order. Providing it can be attached to the machine, almost any floor surface can be used with the Qinsun machine.
The unique design of the equipment allows the slip resistance of footwear to be measured against a standard surface floor surface or alternatively flooring materials can be measured against standard sole materials.
Without a standard for your workplace, employees are left to determine the appropriate slip-resistant shoe for their work environment-which isn't always as easy as it seems.
Many shoes are labeled as "slip-resistant" but are often not effective enough for chefs, nurses, and other professionals that are exposed to slippery floors. The best way to make an informed decision about slip-resistant shoes is to compare your potential choice of shoes to standardized test procedures.
