Desmopressin (DDAVP) is a synthetic analog ofvasopressin with low vasopressor activity. Apart from its increasing effect onwater resorption by the kidneys, desmopressin raises plasma levels of vonWillebrand factor and factor VIII.
In veterinary medicine, desmopressin is applied in the treatment of canine andfeline diabetes insipidus.
