Carpet Static Electricity Tester
Test Principle
When a person walks on the inspected carpet wearing the shoes specified in the standard and following the prescribed walking pattern, and is under monitored atmospheric conditions, the potential difference relative to the earth's voltage (0 potential) generated during walking is measured. This measurement is used to evaluate the risk level of discomfort caused by static electricity shocks during the use of this carpet. We use the electrostatic potential difference between the human body and the earth to represent human - body static electricity. The testers walk on the inspected carpet (floor covering) wearing the test shoes specified in the standard and following the prescribed walking pattern in a regulated atmospheric environment. At this time, measuring the human - body electrostatic potential actually reflects the electrostatic characteristics of the potential of equal - magnitude and opposite - polarity charges carried by the carpet.
Applicable Standards
GB/T 18044 - 2008 Carpet - Evaluation method for electrostatic behavior - Walking test
BS ISO 6356 Floor coverings - Assessment of electrostatic properties - Walking test
Main Applications
The carpet static electricity tester (walking test) is mainly used for the anti - static testing of carpets and other floor covering materials. It can be used by carpet manufacturing enterprises, carpet fiber production enterprises, textile (carpet) inspection institutions, the aviation and automotive interior industries, as well as scientific research institutions for quality inspection and technical evaluation.
