Geogrid Mesh Retaining Wall

is a structural reinforcement system widely used in retaining walls, steep slopes, railroads, highways and infrastructure projects. By embedding a high-strength geogrid material between the wall structure and the fill, it effectively interlocks the wall with the surrounding soil, thereby enhancing overall stability and preventing the wall from collapsing, sliding or deforming.

Construction steps are explained in detail:

Step 1: Excavate the foundation

Remove the original soil to ensure a level and solid foundation that provides sufficient embedment depth for the grating.

Step 2: Cutting and Laying the Geogrid

Cut the geogrid to the specified length as required, usually extending perpendicular to the wall. Select either single- or double-axis grating depending on the height of the wall and the characteristics of the fill.

Step 3: Anchor the grating

Secure the front of the grating with pins to ensure a tight connection to the wall and to avoid loosening.

Step 4: Tighten and secure the grating

Tighten the grating to eliminate wrinkles and stabilize the back end by staking or temporary fixtures.

Step 5: Backfill and Compaction

Backfill in layers (each layer approximately 8 inches thick) and ensure a minimum of 6 inches of coverage before equipment is rolled over, avoiding direct rolling over the grid.
