Product Description
A zirconia crucible is a high-temperature refractory container made from zirconium dioxide (ZrO₂), the ceramic material with the highest service temperature among common oxide crucibles. Stabilized with yttria (Y₂O₃) or magnesia (MgO) to keep it from cracking during heating and cooling, it operates continuously at up to 2000 °C in air and stays stable in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres.
These crucibles deliver excellent chemical inertness and corrosion resistance to acids, alkalis, molten metals and slags, which is why they are the preferred vessel for melting platinum, other precious metals and high-value superalloys where contamination must be minimized. Mingte supplies two grades — a yttria-stabilized refractory grade with microporous structure and a fully dense magnesia-stabilized ceramic grade — and manufactures custom sizes and shapes from customer drawings.

Chemical inertness: stable against most acids, alkalis, alkali melts and molten metals (except concentrated sulfuric / hydrosulfuric acid on the ceramic grade).

Thermal shock resistance: stabilized zirconia tolerates steep temperature gradients during heating and cooling.
Low thermal conductivity: 1–2.5 W/(m·K), reduces heat loss and supports controlled cooling schedules.
Clean melts: minimal interaction with precious-metal and superalloy melts, protecting metal purity.

Standard zirconia crucibles span OD 15–80 mm, height 20–115 mm and wall 1.5–5 mm. Beyond stock geometries, Mingte produces tapered, lidded, boat and rectangular forms, and fully custom crucibles from submitted drawings with flexible MOQ for OEM and distribution.

Frequently Asked Questions
Both the yttria-stabilized and magnesia-stabilized grades are rated for continuous service up to 2000 °C in air, with a material melting point above 2500 °C.
The yttria-stabilized refractory grade (density 4.5, microporous) suits high-temperature melt containment, while the fully dense magnesia-stabilized ceramic grade (density 5.7) gives maximum density and stability for corrosive or alkali-melt work.
