omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat diseases such as peptic ulcer and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which can specifically act on the site of the proton pump of gastric parietal cells and convert it into the active form of sulfinamide, and then irreversibly bind to the sulfhydryl group of the proton pump through disulfide bonds to generate a complex of sulfinamide and proton pump (H+-K+-ATPase), thereby inhibiting the enzyme activity so that H+ in parietal cells cannot be transported to the gastric cavity, The final step of blocking gastric acid secretion can greatly reduce the amount of gastric acid in gastric juice.
