General Description:Odorless white or yellowish-white crystals or a white or creamy-white crystalline powder.

Uses:It is used for the treatment of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine fibroids, multiple myeloma and kidney cancer.

Pharmacological effects:Testosterone propionate is a white crystal or white crystalline powder at room temperature, odorless. It is insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol or ether, slightly soluble in vegetable oils, easily soluble in chloroform. Its pharmacological effects are similar to Methyltestosterone , but it is slightly stronger than the latter . It is susceptibly damaged by the liver through oral administration, therefore ,oral administration is invalid forTestosterone propionate . Its oil solution is often intramuscular injected, absorption is slow, the effects of it is strong and durable,which can be maintained for a few days . Testosterone propionate can promote the development of male organs and secondary sexual characteristics, and promote protein synthesis and bone formation, be opposed to estrogen ,suppress endometrial growth and the function of ovarian and pituitary . It is used for non-testis syndrome, cryptorchidism, male hypogonadism, gynecological diseases such as hypermenorrhea, uterine fibroids, senile osteoporosis and aplastic anemia.

The product is firstly converted to 5α- dihydrotestosterone in the body , then it is bined to the cell receptor to go into the nucleus, and acts with chromatin to activate RNA polymerase and to promote protein synthesis and cell metabolism. In addition, testosterone propionate can stimulate red blood cell production and differentiation by erythropoietin. Although oral testosterone propionate can be absorbed, but it is rapidly damaged to invalid in the liver , it is commonly used by intramuscular injection. The absorption of testosterone propionate by Intramuscular injection is slow , the time of delay effect is 2 to 4 days. In the blood, 98% of testosterone is combined with sex hormone globulin, only 2% of it is of free form. The half-life is 10 ~ 20min. After Testosterone is inactivated in the liver ,its metabolites are DHEA, DHEA and original bile alkyl ketones. 90% of them are discharged from the urine bound with grape acid and sulfuric acid . About 6% of non-binding form of the product is discharged from the bile, a small part of which is still resorbed, formating the enterohepatic circulation.

Air & Water Reactions:Insoluble in water.

Reactivity Profile:Testosterone propionate is sensitive to light. Incompatible with alkalis and oxidizing agents. .

Fire Hazard:Flash point data for Testosterone propionate are not available; however, Testosterone propionate is probably combustible.
