Temperature requirements
Natamycin should be stored in a low-temperature environment. Generally, it is recommended that the storage temperature be controlled between 5 and 15 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, it can effectively inhibit its own chemical reaction rate and prevent molecular structure changes caused by excessively high temperatures from affecting its activity. For example, in a high-temperature environment, natamycin may decompose or deteriorate, reducing its antibacterial performance. If conditions permit, it is a more ideal choice to store it in the refrigerator's crisper drawer (where the temperature is usually between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius).
2. Humidity control
The relative humidity of the storage environment should be maintained at a low level, generally not exceeding 60%. High humidity environments can easily cause natamycin to absorb moisture from the air, leading to caking or deliquescence, which in turn affects its physical properties and application effects. Therefore, storage sites should be equipped with effective dehumidification devices, such as dehumidifiers and desiccants, to maintain a dry environment.
3. Light protection
Natamycin is relatively sensitive to light. Light exposure may trigger its photochemical reaction, leading to reduced activity or even failure. Therefore, it must be stored in a light-blocking container or an opaque storage cabinet to avoid direct sunlight and strong light. Common light-blocking containers include brown glass bottles, aluminum foil bags, etc. These containers can effectively block light and protect the quality of natamycin.
4. Packaging integrity
It is necessary to ensure that the storage containers are well sealed to prevent air, moisture and other impurities from entering. If the packaging is damaged or not sealed tightly, natamycin will come into contact with the external environment, accelerating its deterioration process. Meanwhile, during storage, avoid squeezing and collision to prevent the packaging from breaking.
5. Store separately
It should be stored separately from other substances that may undergo chemical reactions to avoid mutual influence. Especially for some substances with oxidizing, reducing or acidic or alkaline properties, contact with natamycin may trigger a chemical reaction, leading to its failure. In addition, natamycin should be stored out of reach of children and unauthorized personnel to prevent accidental ingestion or misuse.

During storage, the status of natamycin should be regularly checked to observe whether there are any abnormal conditions such as discoloration, caking, or unpleasant odors.
