Overview:
Alpha-GPC is natural choline compound found in the brain. It is also a precursor of parasympathetic acetylcholine. Studies have shown that it is effective in treating Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
Alpha-GPC can rapidly transport choline to the brain through the blood-brain barrier and is the biosynthetic precursor of acetylcholine. In most countries/regions, it is used as non-prescription drug.
Production:
Alpha-GPC is produced by chemical or enzymatic deacylation of rich in phosphatidylcholine, followed by chromatographic purification.
Alpha-GPC can also be derived from small amounts of highly purified soy lecithin and purified sunflower lecithin.
Efficacy overview:
Brain health food It is used clinically to prevent and cure atherosclerosis, fatty liver, neurasthenia and malnutrition. It can also be used as an additive for food, cosmetics and medicinal excipients. It can be converted into lysolecithin by the action of Phospholipase A.
