What Is The Difference Between Elevator And Escalator?
Moving
Escalators are "moving stairs" that carry people up and down between different floors of a building. But an elevator is a closed type of elevator that can accommodate a limited number of people at a time, moving people or goods up and down between different floors of a building.
Application
Elevators are used between multi-storey buildings, such as office buildings to transport passengers, hospitals to transport beds, and cargo elevators to transport goods. Escalators are widely used in stations, wharves, shopping malls, airports and underground railways where people are concentrated.
Structure
The escalator is realized by the main wheel and secondary wheel of cascade moving along different cascade guide rails. The elevator is driven by a motor that connects a traction cable to a balancing system, like a cylindrical piston.
Machine Room
Escalators do not require a special room to control the escalator system. But the elevator needs a specific machine room to control the elevator.
