Phosphatidyl serine

Phosphatidyl serine, also known as complex neural acid, is Phosphatidyl serine, abbreviated as PS. Phosphatidyl serine is a membrane phospholipid extracted from natural soybean oil residues. It is an active substance in cell membranes and is found in plants, yeast, bacteria, mammalian cells, and especially brain cells. Phosphatidyl serine can mainly improve the function of nerve cells, regulate the conduction of nerve impulses, and enhance the memory function of the brain. Because of its strong lipophilicity, it can quickly enter the brain through the blood-brain barrier after absorption and play a soothing role in vascular smooth muscle.
Phosphatidyl serine, phosphatidyl choline, and phosphatidyl ethanolamine are the main types of phospholipids that constitute the cell membrane. They form a double layer of phospholipid employing a hydrophobic end inside and a hydrophilic end outside and constitute the cell membrane. In normal cell membranes, phosphatidyl serine is only distributed in the inner layer of phospholipids, but once the cell is aged, this asymmetry of the cell membrane is immediately disappeared, and phosphatidyl serine is transferred to the phospholipids in the outer layer of the membrane, thus changing the fluidity of the cell.
According to research, phosphatidyl serine can increase the fluidity of the brain cell membrane and the concentration of brain cell glucose, which means that it can improve the activity of brain cells, has a more obvious effect on improving short memory, at the same time, it also can enhance the cell membrane to free radical damage resistance, reduce the probability of cell mobility due to aging deformation.
