Rotary Kiln Tire
Depending on the different cross-sectional shapes, rotary kiln tires can be divided into the following types:
Its section is a solid rectangle, the shape is simple, and it is easy to guarantee the manufacturing quality. Generally, rectangular tire has longer service life than box-type rotary kiln tire and wide application; however, it has defects of relatively small rigidity, unreasonable material utilization and the poor heat dissipation.
Its section is hollow box with good heat dissipation, high rigidity, and reasonable use of materials. The integrated structure of the wheel belt and the cylinder can avoid the "contraction neck temperature stress" generated between them and fully exert tire’s reinforcing effect on cylinder. In the box-type rotary kiln tire, the material is reasonably used, the manufacturing and installation work is simplified, and the operation can be facilitated. The tire is usually installed on the cylinder in looping method. Instead of directly on the cylinder joints, the tire is mounted on the cushion to form a natural ventilation channel between the cylinder and the tire, which can strengthen the heat dissipation on the one hand, reduce the heat transfer from the kiln body to the tire on the other hand, so to keep small temperature difference between the inner and outer edges of the tire. Even the thermal system in the kiln is changed, the temperature difference does not change much, thereby reducing the temperature stress on the tire. When the kiln is rotating, the tire and the cylinder will relatively slide in the axial direction, which will cause wear. At this time, the cushion serves as a protection. On both sides of the tire, baffles or retaining rings are used to restrict the sliding of the tire along the axial direction of the cylinder.
