Barium peroxideis used in the preparation of barium salt or hydrogen peroxide, as an oxidant, bleach, mordant, disinfectant, etc.
White or grayish white heavy powder. The boiling point is 800 ℃. Toxic, 50 mg / kg LD50 (mice, subcutaneous). It is corrosive. It usually contains barium oxide. It decomposes slowly in the air. It is insoluble in water, but can hydrolyze slowly. Contact with dilute acid or water containing carbon dioxide, it decomposes into hydrogen peroxide, and reacts with hydration to form Bao 2· 8H2O. The relative density was 4.96. Melting point 450 ℃.

Stability and Reactivity of Barium Peroxide

Protective Measures of Barium Peroxide
Emergency treatment of leakage
Isolate the contaminated area and restrict access. It is suggested that emergency treatment personnel should wear self-contained breathing apparatus and anti-virus clothing. Do not come into direct contact with the leakage. Do not let the leakage come into contact with organic matter, reducing agent and inflammable substance. A small amount of leakage: avoid dust, sweep up carefully, collect in closed container, mark and wait for treatment. A large amount of leakage: cover with plastic cloth and canvas to reduce scattering. Then they are collected and recycled or transported to the waste disposal site for disposal.
Protective measures
Respiratory system protection: it is recommended to wear the first mask type electric air supply filter dust respirator when it may be exposed to dust.
Eye protection: respiratory system protection has been done.
Body protection: wear polyethylene anti-virus clothing.
Hand protection: wear neoprene gloves.
Others: smoking, eating and drinking are prohibited at the worksite. After work, take a shower and change clothes. Keep good hygiene.
First aid measures
Skin contact: take off contaminated clothes immediately and rinse with plenty of flowing water for at least 15 minutes. See a doctor.
Eye contact: lift the eyelid immediately and rinse thoroughly with plenty of flowing water or normal saline for at least 15 minutes. See a doctor.
Inhalation: quickly leave the site for fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing stops, perform artificial respiration immediately. See a doctor.
Ingestion: drink enough warm water, induce vomiting, wash stomach with 2% - 5% sodium sulfate solution, and catharsis. See a doctor.
Fire extinguishing method: fire extinguishing agent: dry powder and sand. Strictly prohibit water, foam, and carbon dioxide from fighting.
