Lost-foam casting is atype of evaporative-pattern casting process that is similar to investment casting except foam is used for the pattern instead of wax. The lost foam casting techniques take advantage of the low boiling point of polymer foams to simplify the investment casting process by removing the need of melt the wax out of the mold. Compared withinvestment casting methodandsand casting techniques, lost foam casting is one of the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly metal casting process for creating complex and intricate metal parts by using afoam pattern that evaporates when molten metal is poured into it.
