Application
Physical and chemical properties
(1)Highly reactive:The powder state maximizes the contact area of calcium carbide particles. When reacting with water, the rate of releasing acetylene (C₂H₂) per unit time is much higher than that of bulk calcium carbide (up to 3-5 times that of ordinary calcium carbide).
It is suitable for scenarios that require instantaneous high flow of acetylene (such as precision combustion and rapid synthesis reactions).
(2)Rapid and complete reaction:Traditional bulk calcium carbide forms a calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) coating after surface reaction, which hinders the internal reaction. The utilization rate is usually only 70-85%. Powdered calcium carbide has tiny particles and almost 100% reaction, with no core unreacted residue, which significantly reduces the amount of waste residue.
(3)Suspension and dispersibility:In specific solvents (such as mineral oil or organic media), powdered calcium carbide can be evenly dispersed and used in reaction systems with controlled slow release of acetylene. It can also be transported by air flow to achieve automatic feeding.

Gas chromatography carrier gas: When high-purity acetylene is required, powdered calcium carbide can react quickly and filter impurities, which is more flexible than cylinder gas supply.
Nanomaterial synthesis:As a carbon source, it participates in the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process of carbon nanotubes (CNT) or graphene. Due to its fast reaction rate, the release of carbon atoms can be precisely controlled.

High-efficiency desulfurizer: In steel smelting, powdered calcium carbide can instantly combine with sulfur in molten metal (generating CaS) to improve desulfurization efficiency
Alloy additive: Through the jet injection method, it directly participates in the regulation of carbon elements in the metal liquid (such as high-carbon steel production).
(3)Pharmaceutical and pesticide synthesis
Highly active intermediates: When synthesizing vitamin A and alkyne drugs, powdered calcium carbide can quickly provide acetylene groups (-C≡CH), shortening the reaction time.
