Luo Han Guo is a perennial vine, cultivated in northern Guangxi of China. Its dried fruits are ellipse or round, with brown or snuff surface and abundant small pale and black hairs. People have used it for centuries for both its sweet flavor and its medicinal property in China. After processed, it can be used as a remedy for colds and congestion of the lung. Nowadays Luo Han Guo is used as a low calorie - sweetening agent in juices or drinks, or it can be made into a desirable beverage itself.

Triterpenoid glycosides
The glycosides in Luo Han Guo mainly as triterpene glycosides,part of compounds of cucurbitane type, the collecting of saponins. It includes Mogrosides II, III, IV, V, VI, siamcroside I,11-oxo-Mogroside and neomogroside, etc. Triterpenoid glycoside V in Luo Han Guo is the major composition for sweetener.
Amino acids
With complete 18 kinds of basic amino acids, but tryptophan undetected, Luo Han Guo also contains protein, including coarse & pure protein.
Vitamin
Plentiful vitamin C with content 339. 68-487.52mg/100g exists in the fruit of Luo Han Guo in mature, along with 24 kinds of inorganic elements as well, among which 16 kinds act as necessary trace elements for human body.
