L-Cystine dihydrochloride
L-cysteine is a sulfur-containing non-essential amino acid, being the dimeric form of L-cysteine. Cysteine is the source of disulfide bonds in proteins and plays a role in sulfur transport. At physiological pH, cysteine can be rapidly oxidized to form cystine. Cystine is crucial for oxygen production in arterial smooth muscle cells and the modification of low-density lipoproteins. It can also participate in the synthesis of glutathione.
L-cysteine dihydrochloride is a modified form of L-cysteine with better solubility. Applications: L-cysteine dihydrochloride can be used as a component of cell culture media for routine cell culture and the biological production of recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies.
