Heavy Duty Steel Grating
Heavy duty welded gratings are made of carbon steel and stainless steel. The former products are available bare, painted with hot galvanizing. The latter products are available mild finish, electro- polished.Welded Steel Bar Grating is the most popular of all grating types due to its strength, cost-efficient production and ease of installation. It is the ideal materials for application such as airfields, highways, industrial plants, truck and bus terminals, parking lots and railroad yards. Common uses are flooring, driveways, subway an d tunnel ventilation grilles, curb inlet grates, ramps, docks, etc.When order steel grating, you should give the welded steel grating types. Heavy duty welded steel W series, heavy duty welded WH series, heavy duty riveted steel R series, heavy duty standard welded grating and so on.When specify welded steel grating, first specify the type of grating . In the instance of standard welded grating, the "W" indicates the assembly of the grating shall be Welded construction, the "19" indicates that the bearing bars shall be 19/16's (1-3/16) inches on center, and the "4" indicates that the cross bars shall be spaced at 4 inches on center. Following selection of the type of grating, Proper designation for standard welded grating with 1" x 3/16" bearing bars is indicated W-19-4 1" x 3/16".Heavy duty welded grating ranges in size from 1-1/4" X 1/4" bearing bars through
6" x 1/2" (7" bearing bars available by inquiry). Standard bearing bar spacings are
15/16", 13/16", 1-3/8", 1-7/8" and 2-3/8" center-to-center. See pages 25 and 27 for standard cross bar design. Rectangular cross bars are also available. Standard cross bar spacings are 4" or 2" center-to-center.
