Hot Work Mold Steelis a specialized type of tool steel designed for use in high-temperature environments. It is distinguished by its exceptional heat resistance, hardness, and wear resistance. The application scope of hot work steel is extensive. Tools crafted from this material serve a multitude of purposes.
Hot work steel is utilized to shape workpieces made from iron, non-ferrous metals, and their alloys at elevated temperatures without generating chips. It is employed in processes such as die casting, extrusion, and drop forging as, well as in the manufacturing of pipes and glass. During use, hot work steel is exposed to temperatures exceeding 200°C and must maintain its structural integrity without undergoing any changes. Therefore, the material's structure must be highly stable and resistant to tempering.
Tools made from hot work steel endure varying thermal loads, which occur at the contact surface between the tool and the material being processed. To ensure durability, the steel must possess a sufficiently stable structure.
The combination of thermal loads and wear caused by abrasion or impact demands specific properties in hot work steel. These include high tempering resistance, resistance to thermal cycling, heat resistance, hot toughness, and wear resistance. The use of high-quality hot work steel is crucial for ensuring high efficiency and productivity in subsequent production stages.
