Test Procedures
Equipment Composition: The tunnel method tester consists of a main control box and a combustion chamber. The combustion chamber is a tunnel furnace welded from a metal steel frame, equipped with natural ventilation ports, gas supply ports, and a graduated observation window. The control box is equipped with a digital display temperature control system, a gas flow rate adjustment device, and a combustion temperature recorder.
Test Conditions: The test uses a standard flame of 900±20℃. Temperature monitoring is achieved through thermocouples and an electronic potentiometer. Environmental conditions must meet the requirements of a temperature of 5–35℃ and a relative humidity of ≤85%.
Test Procedure: Under laboratory conditions, the flame propagation characteristics are tested using the tunnel method tester to evaluate the protective effect of the fire-retardant coating on the substrate and the quality of its flame propagation performance.
Results Analysis: Through quantitative analysis, the performance of the fire-retardant coating is evaluated, providing an objective basis for the use and selection of fire-retardant coatings.
The tunnel method test provides objective experimental evidence for the performance evaluation of fire-retardant coatings and is suitable for quantitatively testing the flame retardant performance of fire-retardant coatings applied to the surface of substrates under laboratory conditions.
