Laser Surgery For Disc Herniation Spinal Disc Surgery
PLDD (Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression) is a latest treatment procedure for the treatment of discogenic spinal problem in neck and back pain. It is performed with local anesthesia under fluoroscopic guidance by inserting a needle into the disk. A thin optical fiber is inserted through the needle to apply laser energy to the nucleus of the disk. Laser evaporates disc materials and creates a negative pressure gredient which gradually pulls the herniation backwards into the disk. There is no incision needel and is therefore much less invasive and thus surgical risk of spine surgery is much minimized by PLDD procedure. Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression procedure is safe & approved by United States Federal Drug Administrtion ( USFDA ) for the treatment of prolapsed Intervertebral disc.
