绒毛膜促性腺激素（HCG）是妇女受精卵着床后由胎盘绒毛膜细胞分泌的一种糖蛋白激素，可通过血液循环进入血液和尿液。正常妊娠后1周便可从血清或尿中可检出HCG，HCG的浓度上升很快，到首次停经，浓度通常超过100mIU/ml，至10-12孕周，HCG浓度达到mIU/ml顶峰。而一般非孕妇女的尿液HCG常低于25mIU/ml。故HCG的检测是临床诊断怀孕的重要指标。
