With the technological advances in the life science market, small components can be used under higher operating pressure. High-quality stainless steel will form a passive protective layer on the surface under oxygen-enriched conditions. Because different alloying elements have different melting points, changing the key chemical composition in the heat affected zone (HAZ) can cause the layer to be affected by poor heat treatment and welding.
