Test Principle

The system uses pneumatic driving to simulate pressure and flow variations during human coughing, generating a high-velocity airflow jet that carries aerosol particles into the surrounding environment. When combined with the thermal plume generated by a thermal manikin, you can reproduce airflow movement, particle dispersion, and interaction with ambient air under coughing conditions. This allows quantitative analysis of human exposure and airborne transmission behavior in indoor environments.

Operation Instructions

Ensure the ambient temperature is 10–40 °C and relative humidity is 15–95%;

Use AC 220 V / 50 Hz power supply and confirm total power does not exceed 250 W;

Connect the coughing system to the thermal manikin or manikin head using quick-connect interfaces and check cable integrity;

Set coughing parameters, including pressure, initial velocity, duration, and outlet mode, with PID parameters automatically tuned;

Switch between nasal and oral coughing modes during testing as required;

When using an aerosol container, ensure all connections are secure to prevent leakage;

After testing, switch off the system, disconnect power, and clean pipelines and interfaces.

Test Procedure

Install the coughing system and connect it to the thermal manikin or manikin head;

Power on the control system and set coughing pressure, initial velocity, duration, and outlet mode;

Check that the aerosol container and pipelines are securely connected;

Start the experiment and record coughing pressure, airflow velocity, and particle distribution data in real time;

After completion, shut down the system, save test data, and clean pipelines and the aerosol container.
