Yeast display (yeast surface display) is a widely used platform for protein and antibody engineering. Compared to traditional prokaryotic phage display, the yeast system ensures superior protein folding, post-translational modifications (PTMs), and translocation.This eukaryotic environment is critical for maintaining the structural integrity and functionality of complex VHH antibodies prior to surface presentation.
From Immune Libraries to Ready-to-Use Naïve Libraries
Traditional VHH libraries from immunized Camelidae yield somatically matured binders with high affinity, but building a new library for each antigen requires 6–12 weeks of immunization, lymphocyte isolation, and library construction — at high time and cost. To address this pain point, we constructed large naïve VHH librariesfrom 20 healthy, non-immunized Bactrian camels (PBMC + spleen):

Leveraging this ultra-large, off-the-shelf library combined with our advanced yeast display screening platform, we achieve broader epitope coverage and help clients rapidly identify optimal monoclonal VHH candidates. Even without somatic maturation, yeast display-based selection routinely isolates VHHs with subnanomolar affinity suitable for standard immunoassays and therapeutic research.
