Both applications of these crystalline materials used in optical and electronic industries all require the formation of substrates, which require cutting, grinding and polishing.

Lithium niobate is a ferroelectric with the highest Curie temperature found so far. It is a negative crystal. This mechanism of lithium niobate and lithium tantalate makes them good piezoelectric energy exchangers and optical materials. The optical properties and research of lithium niobate crystals mainly focus on the visible and infrared bands.
