Physical Properties of N-Acetyl-DL-Tryptophan

Physical Properties of N-Acetyl-DL-Tryptophan
1. Appearance
White or off-white crystalline powder, odorless, with fine and uniform texture.
2. Molecular information
Molecular formula:C13H14N2O3
Molecular weight: 246.26
3. Optical property
It is a racemic mixture of D-type and L-type, with no optical rotation, showing optical inactivity.
4. Melting point
Melting range 204–206 °C, accompanied by slight decomposition when heated to high temperature.
5. Solubility
Slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water and ethanol, freely soluble in dilute alkaline solutions, insoluble in ether and other non-polar organic solvents.
6. Hygroscopicity
Low hygroscopicity at room temperature, not easy to absorb moisture and agglomerate under dry conventional environment.
7. Stability under physical conditions
Good physical stability at normal temperature and pressure; not easy to deliquesce or discolor in short-term storage. Long-term strong light exposure may cause slight color darkening.
8. Crystal form and density
Belongs to crystalline solid with moderate bulk density, easy to crush and process, suitable for powder preparation and formulation compounding.
9. Taste
Slightly bitter taste, typical of modified amino acid derivatives.
