The Fabric Coolness Tester is designed to evaluate the contact coolness sensation of textiles by measuring the contact coolness index (qmax, peak heat flux). By simulating the sensation of human touch, it quantifies the heat transfer from skin to fabric, allowing objective assessment of fabrics with cooling properties. It is suitable for summer clothing, underwear, cooling patches, mattresses, and other skin-contact materials. The instrument can also measure thermal conductivity and thermal insulation, supporting both dry and wet measurement methods.

Application

This tester is widely used for:

Evaluating cooling sensation of fabrics in summer and warmth-retaining fabrics in winter.

Quality control of textiles, underwear, sportswear, cooling patches, and bedding materials.

Research and development of new textile products with improved skin comfort.

Thermal performance testing, including thermal conductivity and insulation assessment.

Supporting product design optimization for enhanced user comfort.

Standards

GB/T 35263-2017: Determination of cooling effect of textiles by contact heat flux.

ISO 11092: Measurement of thermal and water-vapor resistance of fabrics (optional for thermal insulation testing).

ASTM F1868: Standard test method for thermal and evaporative resistance of clothing materials (optional).

EN 31092: Clothing thermal insulation – measurement using sweating guarded hot plate (optional).

Features

(1) Simulates human skin contact to measure qmaxaccurately.

(2) Supports thermal conductivity measurement through a fixed temperature difference between hot plates.

(3) Measures thermal insulation by calculating heat loss of fabric placed on a constant-temperature hot plate.

(4) Two measurement modes: dry method and wet method.

(5) Capable of continuous measurement up to 10 cycles per test for enhanced accuracy.

(6) Touch screen interface for real-time display and parameter setting.

(7) Optional PC connection for data export and analysis.

(8) Dedicated software displays qmaxand saves data in CSV format.
