Pharmacological Actions:
Chlortetracycline is a tetracycline antibiotic. It has a strong antibacterial effect on Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus hemolyticus, Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium tetani, and Clostridium sporogenes. It is also sensitive to Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Brucella, and Bordetella pertussis. However, its antibacterial effect is stronger than tetracycline and oxytetracycline. It is poorly absorbed when taken orally by chickens, and has a low bioavailability. Clinically, it is mainly used to prevent and treat chronic respiratory diseases and E. coli infections in chickens.
Indications:
Antibiotic for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases caused by sensitive E. coli and mycoplasma in chickens.
