For tufted carpets or traditional carpets, an important parameter is the retention performance of their tufts.

Poor - quality carpets may completely lose their tufts in certain situations, such as on staircases. For loop - pile carpets, well - formed loops can prevent the formation of long loops. This instrument can measure the force required to pull out a single tuft or loop from the carpet, that is, the bonding force between the carpet pile and the backing. This instrument is commonly used for testing small quantities of samples in laboratories, but it can also be applied in specific scenarios involving existing carpets or large - scale carpets.

Test Method

The carpet sample is fixed by a steel template. Hold one end of the tuft to be tested with a pair of surgical forceps, or hook a loop with a metal hook. The surgical forceps or the metal hook is connected to a force - measuring balance, which is driven by a small electric motor to increase the pulling force at a steady rate. When the tension reaches its limit, the balance shows the required maximum tension. The maximum tension of the balance of the standard instrument is 5kg.
