How to Install a Seal Kitin a Hydraulic Cylinder?
Different seals have different installation methods, common types: reciprocating motion seals and skeleton oil seals for rotation. The installation method of the skeleton oil seal for rotation: the first step, when taking the oil seal out of the warehouse, check whether there are dust and sand and other impurities on the surface of the oil seal and the lip, so as to avoid these substances from damaging the lip and shaft during the shaft movement, causing leakage.
In the second step, for oil seals with more than two lips like TC, TA, TB, and TF, please fill the lip with grease, and for single-lip oil seals like SC, VC, and VB Apply grease to the end. The third step is to confirm that there is no foreign matter such as anti-rust oil or dust attached to the surface of the shaft and cavity. If there is any, please clean it.
The fourth step is to confirm that there are no burrs on the surface of the shaft cavity and chamfers, so as to prevent these burrs from damaging the lip during installation.
The fifth step is to assemble it into the cavity. It should be noted that the installation direction of the oil seal is that the sealing lip faces the sealing introduction side. The higher the pressure, the greater the impact of other factors on the performance of the seal, such as temperature, speed, material of the seal, the gap between the piston and the cylinder, and the gap between the piston and the cylinder head.
It is difficult to describe the maximum service temperature and the minimum service temperature of a sealing material because this is the result of a series of factors. For the working temperature of the piston and the piston rod are different, they should be selected differently.
The friction between the seal and the sealing surface depends on many factors: surface roughness, surface characteristics, pressure, medium, temperature, seal material, seal type and movement speed.
Experience has shown that the characteristics of the surface of the cylinder piston and piston rod have a great influence on the life of the seal. Surface properties are often defined by the value of surface roughness Ra, which is the arithmetic mean of the absolute value of the surface shape away from the center line. However, these values cannot fully represent the influence of the surface condition on the seal, because even under the same roughness, different surface shape features can cause different degrees of seal wear on the seal.
