While external shoe size markings provide a general guide, the actual space inside a shoe dictates how it will fit a foot. The internal shape and dimensions are influenced by the last used, construction methods, and materials. An Internal Shoe Size Tester provides an objective way to measure the usable volume, primarily the length from the heel area to the furthest point in the toe box.
The tester typically utilizes a probe mechanism designed to be inserted into the shoe. This probe can extend and adapt to reach the extreme internal boundaries of the shoe's length. The instrument then measures the distance between a defined point in the heel area and the furthest point in the toe area accessible to the foot.
