DL-Methionine
Spectral Characteristics of DL-Methionine
Infrared (IR) spectrum: Characteristic absorption peaks of DL-methionine include: 3300–3500 cm⁻¹ (stretching vibration of N-H in the amino group), 2900–3000 cm⁻¹ (stretching vibration of C-H in the alkyl group), 1600–1650 cm⁻¹ (bending vibration of N-H), 1500–1550 cm⁻¹ (stretching vibration of C=O in the carboxylate group), and 600–700 cm⁻¹ (stretching vibration of C-S in the side chain). These characteristic peaks can be used for qualitative identification of DL-methionine.
Ultraviolet (UV) spectrum: DL-methionine has no conjugated double bonds in its molecule, so it shows weak absorption only at 200–210 nm in aqueous solution, and no obvious absorption peak above 220 nm. This spectral feature means that DL-methionine will not cause color changes in application systems such as feed and food.
