Appearance and Crystallinity ofL-Lysine monohydrochloride

  • Pure state: White, odorless, crystalline powder or prismatic crystals (orthorhombic crystal system; high crystallinity ensures easy purification, granulation, and storage).
  • Hygroscopy: Slightly hygroscopic (far less than free L-lysine, which is highly hygroscopic and prone to caking). The hydrochloride salt form eliminates the strong hygroscopicity of free L-lysine by neutralizing the free amino groups, making it suitable for solid formulations (tablets, capsules, feed premixes) and bulk storage.
  • Taste: Mildly sweet and slightly bitter; no irritating odor— compatible with food/feed formulation without affecting organoleptic properties.
