Titanium carbide hard rods - suitable for chemical parts
The anti-adhesion performance of titanium carbide round rods fabricated from cemented carbide is exceptional. When machining sticky materials such as aluminum and copper alloys, these rods exhibit a significantly reduced tendency for built-up edge formation, thereby ensuring a smooth machined surface. Their surface properties can be further enhanced through coating technologies—such as TiAlN coatings—which improve wear resistance and oxidation resistance, extending tool life by over 50%. In the medical device industry, they are commonly used in the manufacture of orthopedic surgical instruments, offering not only excellent cutting sharpness but also the ability to withstand repeated high-temperature sterilization without deformation. The length of the round rod can be customized within a range of 100 mm to 1000 mm and is amenable to secondary precision processes such as grinding and wire electrical discharge machining, enabling the production of components with complex geometries. Although the initial cost is higher than that of conventional cemented carbide, the overall cost per unit product is lower when accounting for extended service life and improved processing efficiency. In gear manufacturing, hobs produced from this material ensure gear tooth profile accuracy at ISO quality grade 6 or higher, meeting the stringent requirements of high-performance mechanical transmission systems.
