Coating raw material for wear resistance and corrosion resistance
The preparation methods of this powder mainly include the electric arc furnace method and the carbon thermal reduction method. Among them, the powder produced by the carbon thermal reduction method has a finer particle size and lower cost, making it suitable for large-scale applications. The oxygen content of the powder is less than 0.2%, which can reduce the pores and inclusions in the coating and improve the density of the coating. On the surface of the valve stem of an automotive engine, after spraying chromium carbide powder, the wear of the stem can be reduced by 80%, and the major overhaul cycle of the engine can be extended. Chromium carbide powder has good wetting properties and is firmly bonded to metal substrates such as iron, nickel, and cobalt. The coating is less likely to crack.
